Default Resonator Deletion/Replacement?

I want to delete my resonator, love that sound, but I was wondering, would I be able to put in DIFFERENT resonators instead? so its louder but not SUPER loud?

also why are shops trying to charge me $150+, wasnt this supposed to be like $30?

You could most definitely find a higher flow different length/ID resonator and achieve a different sound.

At bare minimum though your looking at 30-100bucks for a resonator and if you just want it welded and not flanged your prolly gonna pay 120+ in cali.

Your a walk in customer, in california, likely going to a chain shop. Dont expect the homie hookup price. People gotta eat too.

Whats your current setup? stock? sc300? sc400?? What sound are you trying to achieve? need more info.

Stock 400, like the sound of the exhaust, but I just wish it were louder, a little less luxuary if you might say..

so your saying $120+ with an aftermarket resonator? I have been expecting to pay that, I can, cause I want it to sound good, I dont even think I would need an aftermarket muffler if done right

I could see it being $120 for two resonators on an X-Pipe with labor thrown in.

You can get resonators pretty cheap off of Amazon and Summitracing. For a unique sound you could try doing an X-Pipe with 2.25 or 2.5 inch piping and throw on some Magnaflow resonators.

youre still running mufflers so chopping off the stock resonators and just having them weld up a piece of pipe wont be too loud. the stock mufflers are still quite restrictive/noise suppressant.

If you are taking it to a shop I'll tell you right up front it costs them $50+ in overhead just to put your car in the air. They gotta eat and pay bills too!
