Since I rebuilt my ECU with new caps not only did overall driving performance improve
significantly but gas usage went from 17 to 22.8 MPG with A/C running. This is in town
driving.
The strong gas odor from exhaust disappeared and I noticed my idle speed at stop
is lower but very smooth...more like 500 RPM. Don't know whether the higher rated caps
that I used to replace the old ones could possibly make the car more efficient than when new
but I don't ever remember getting in-town MPG any better than 21
I just sent mine to get repaired. I should get my comp back by tomorrow or monday. Im so excited cause I havent had my car for 2 months. My mpg was 17 so I hope it goes up too.

Good luck. I could not beleive the overall improvement in performance after the rebuild.

cost....$10 for caps and $50 labor done by a tv service man who was a friend of mine. normal service charge would prob be triple.

i live in pensacola and it gets just as hot here as orlando. almost always after my car sat in the sun for an hour or so, it would srart rough and run very poorly. that was my biggest clue to bad caps which tend to really break down when hot.
