Default weird idling problems

Hey..
I'm having troubles with an idling problem that when it gets hot outside.
It will start but slowly stall out, like its not getting gas.
I cleaned out the iacv and it didn't fix it,
the only thing that works is if I leave the battery unplugged overnight then plug it back in and it will run just fine all day even if its hot outside

Does that mean my ECU is giving out?
I'm going to take video of it today, maybe that will help.
Thanks for the help

yeah that all tested fine, i just replaced the battery, this only happens if i leave the battery plugged in for the day and it will start stalling and the exhaust kinda smells
after a overnight unplugged it will not smell and run good

idling issues go under performance and maintenance, please post in the correct sub-forum.

If only at idle I would say vac leak. If it dies under load I would say charging system. Do you have a cel light on?

no cel light on
yesterday in the hot sun i start it and you can rev it up but it wont hold for long till it bogs down,
when you turn on the ac it will stall or if you turn on the steering wheel the needle will move up and down a lot
now if its cooler out like at night or if the engine is nice and cool, it will start right up fine for a while.
the weird thing about it is ,I disconnected the battery over night and waited till its super hot out to reconnect it, and it was running fine all day today

Ill do more testing tomorrow for vac leaking

no matter what i do it will stall even flooring the gas pedal
Its hard to pin point the issue

My car does this after I've been driving for a while, and I shut it off. Once I start it again it won't idle and it stalls out. I have to bring the revs up to about 1k and then it'll stay running. What's the deal?

trying to salve a idle problem must be one of the hardest things

well I noticed on mine that my idle is very low on initial start up, then it jumps up just a little bit to around 1k, and then drops back down for a split second nearly stalling out, and then comes back. My car however is running on its stock battery . . . from 1992 and a dirty alternator also from 1992. When its warmed up the car is idling around 600 RPM

you should put a multimeter on the battery while the car is running to see if you're getting about 14.2v anything lower could be a bad alternator and clean your Icav too

Pretty good plan. I'm going to swap my battery anyway. It was supposed to be recycled back in 2009, and was venting acid at one point.

went thru same probs u r experiencing especially very poor performance when car was in
hot sun. did almost all classic recommendations...nothing helped. finally rebuilt ecu module
with 10 new caps as recommended by cowboy/Yamme.

the follwwing issues cleared up:

1) no more erratic rough idling.

2) no more stalling when trying to rev motor above 3000 rpm

3) no more dying at random.

4) no more transmission shift shudders.

5) speedometer finally started working properly after yr off whacko readouts.

6) loss of power and smooth acceleration back to normal.

not saying your ecu is the culprit but i'm guessing it is since you seem to have probs when
car is hot...caps breakdown in heat. i also live in florida.

good luck with the ecu you picked up.

open the old one up...only 4 screws on cover and six on top circuit board... and inspect for
leaking caps. even tho you may not see any visible (usual orange deposit at base of cap) it
doesn't mean that bad caps don't exist.

how old is your car??
