Good price for a 28,000 mile 95 SC300?
Hello Gentlemen,
New to the forum, but a previous LS400 owner. I've known about a very low mileage SC300 for years and finally have the opportunity to acquire it.
Yes, you read the title right. It is a 28,000 original mile 95 SC300. Its been in the same family since new, used by an older man for very occasional use then regrettably handed down to his teenage grand daughter. Luckily she's a somewhat responsible girl and didn't damage it until last night. Her father surprised her for graduation with a brand new Jeep, and on its maiden voyage backed it into the Lexus damaging the back bumper and passenger tail light.
It is gold in all of its 90s glory. Champagne exterior with tan leather, color matched BBS mesh wheels, gold emblems and exhaust tips. Other than the recent damage, pristine inside and out. Southern California car all of its life until 2 years ago. Full service history, but with the low mileage has been minimal. None of the typical maintenance points like timing belt, water pump, and power steering pump have not been needed.
There are no real comparables price wise given the mileage. I would want to go with subtle, factory or factory looking bumpers with air dams, lower it a bit, and daily drive it with perhaps power modifications down the road.
Would you do the timing belt service on a 28,000 mile vehicle given the age?
What do you think is a fair price? We agreed to $5000.

Just another good deal.
I certainly wouldn't pass on that deal or offer. Take it before they change their minds. 5k is a good price. You could sell it on here and make money, if you dont like it.

I didn't think the price a steal given the damage and these not being particularly desirable or collectible as of yet; has that changed? If this were a black on black 5 speed perhaps, but a gold automatic can bring impressive numbers as well?
I'm waiting on final approval from the patriarch of the family and original owner.

Ok I may be the only one, but not driving a car and letting it sit isnt necessarily a good thing. Sounds like a good price, but don't be surprised if it needs some work. Check it out, belts, seals especially. Bet it's clean inside though

Well, the plan if I do get the OK would be to install the factory rear spoiler along with the bumpers front and rear with the air dams, painted to match. I was also thinking about painting the emblems body color, or perhaps matte black to give it some contrast and lose the gold exhaust tips. The BBS wheels are very attractive and period correct to the car, so they would stay. I'd also like to lower the car a few inches at most, but preserve the ride as much as possible. Which strut setup would achieve that without making it ride too rough?
Any decent performance upgrades you can do without forced induction? I'm not sure I'd want to go that far with it.
