Default Damp Carpeting, What's causing it???

Hey Gang,

Several times now I have noticed the carpets are damp under/around the floor mats. This is not only occuring on the driver side, but also on both sides in the rear. No one has been sitting in the rear, so I can not say the water was dragged in from wet shoes.

Its not soaking wet, but it is wet to the touch. Is there a drain, sunroof seal, or something I should look for. I checked both doors and the seals are in great shape with no sign of wear/tear.

Here in Northern VA, we have not been swamped with rain, but we do get a normal amount.

Any input is appreciated

Thanks
Biz

I used to have that problem too, especially after driving in a big rain. Anyway...i jacked the car up and noticed there were one or two holes under the car around the area that were meant to be the anchor for jacking up the car. These holes are there on both side of the car (L and R). I sealed them up with expandable spray foam and it has been dry eversince. Also, for some car, the carpet under the speaker usually change it color, this also due to a hole right under that area, on the door. Just seal up those holes and thing would be fine.

Thanks Lexgendboi,

I'll get under there and see what I can seal up. Are those holes functional, or is it o.k. to seal up.

Honestly, i don't know what those holes function as. I just realize that there were holes underneath the car and it seem to cause my carpet to be wet, after the first trial sealing it with a piece of plastic bag stuffed in there, i realized the carpet didn't get wet anymore, and nothing went wrong with the car, so i decided to seal it up completely with foam. I also looked at some other holes and they seem to be sealed with a plastic cap, only one or two isn't seal, so i sealed up whichever one isn't covered. .... Just give it a try, i don't think that is the intake for the AC or the vents or anything.
