Can my oxygen sensors be going without throwing codes?
Hi,
I was considering changing my 02 sensors in a 95' Sc400 due to bad gas mileage. I drive in bumper to bumper NYC traffic (with the occasional WOT from red light to red light. I get 200 miles per tank and I am hoping to get closer to the mileage reported for this car. I just did a tuneup and it did not improve much. I will change the sensors unless you guys have a better idea.
Being as i have no Check Engine Light, there are no codes right?
If there are no codes, does that mean 02 sensors are OK?
Should I change them anyway?
they almost never throw a code until they are long gone and you have gotten years of bad gas mileage, and sometimes not even then. I would replace them if you suspect them to be original or very old.
sc400's don't get good gas mileage in traffic in general, 200 sounds a little low maybe other sc400 owners will chime in with their mileage.
