I had to weld a spacer on my manifold when I had my GT4088 with an XS Manifold. But now (or once the spacer arrives) is also a good time to test fit the spacer and turbo to see if the flange needs to be clocked at all for downpipe clearance.
Hey everyone! Just took my last final so doing a bit of fun stuff now. Heres what I'm currently contemplating...I want to go with the Treadstone manifold purely for the sake thats its a cast piece of steel and looks to be the most stout manifold of everything I've seen. Besides that it also will make shopping for a new wastegate very easy...currently the 4 bolt wastegate I've got does not bolt directly to my manifold which means I'd have to get the flange cut and find the right size one and get it welded on...thats just a flat no with me. I'm pretty well decided on the Treadstone manifold now because I can just buy a 2-bolt wastegate or a v band and get a v band adapter which are easy to work with and do not require welding. One question is what type of downpipe would I get to work with the Treadstone manifold? Seems like it sits a bit lower than the more common manifold and all the ebay downpipes look to be built more for that setup than a treadstone setup. Thanks for any opinions on the Treadstone manifold decision!
If I recall, the downpipe will remain the same. The TS manifold simply clocks the hotside, but the height of the physical mounting point is still the same. There was another build thread a while back with the same question, and from memory he had no issues.
A break from studying and decided to play with my new obdI lower runner and my injectors. The o-rings fit very snug in the seats and injectors slide right in with enough snugness that they hold themselves up.
Lol its slow I know. I want to clean these lower runners. Is there anything else I can do them to improve them or not really? I will probably crinkle coat them for fun on a weekend. How do you recommend cleaning them? I was thinking of taking them to a carwash and using the "engine cleaner" setting and just power washing them. Yay? Nay?

I got my parts really clean by using either gojo or any cleaner that has pumice in it......Use it without any water and a scrub brush....the pumice helps to get the textured pieces really clean....also with the use of a degreaser like purple power will help to...
Did the purple power thing with wire brushes and worked great. Some spots were too tight for the particular brush I bought but oh well.
Just purchased my wastegate flange and an extra 1/2" inch turbo flange to act as a spacer and I also found a machine shop down the street from my house that will do the flange job for 30 bucks and also add some brace bars as support.

I needed a 1/2" spacer to clear my BWS366 on a modified 2jzgte godspeed manifold......It was hitting runner #1......Problem free with the spacer just be sure to get a good gasket between the spacer and turbo....
Yeah I'm curious what makes a good gasket for this? Also does my wastegate need any gaskets? I read online that it doesn't but not sure though. Should I just go with the metal gaskets? Or those ones with a bunch of little holes that look like cookies?
The metal ones are the best......and those ones with the holes in them that come with fleabay manifolds are not the best and some say they will eventually blow out..
Here you go:

My wastegate flange and turbo spacer flange came in. Next on the list is to get the old wastegate flange replaced with the new one that fits, and also add brace support to the manifold. Anyone have tips on this? I was thinking of running 2 rods from the turbo flange to the exhaust flange like one on either side running in between runners 1-2 and 5-6 or 2-3 and 4-5. Anyone have pics of how they braced theirs?

This is a GTE manifold but should give you and idea of where supports were added....The two on the turbo flange as well as the pieces added on each runner
