Congrats on the car. I'm not a fan of the color, but it is a nice start.
Vrank has a point. The fact that it is made by Toyota doesn't change the fact that you have to pay lexus pricing for a lot of parts. These cars are old now, and things will break, so it is important for the OP to be aware of what he is getting into. I started wrenching on hondas and when I got my SC the price difference for oem parts was huge.

Welcome to the forum!
Like everyone else said, fix the things wrong with it first
Here is some cheap stuff that will make your car look alot cleaner
-Turtle Wax headlight restoration kit ($10)
-Bottle of Grease Lightning to clean that engine bay! ($5)
-A new emergency brake cover ($20 on ebay)
Some things that are more expensive but will make it look wayyyyy better
-WINDOW TINT! (Around $200)
-Wheels and tires (Can get some used starting at $300+)
-Some lowering springs and new struts, coilovers would be better though, just depends on your budget ($500+)
-New seats from Leather Seats .com ($600)
-And did I mention WINDOW TINT!?!
First and foremost you NEED to get all mechanical issues fixed
I know your not a fan of the color but give it some time and it will grow on you, To do a good paint job you would be spending close to what the whole cars worth (3-5k) which is not worth it if your car is not mechanically proficiant. I'm all for a new paint job but like everyone said, It would be best to get your car running and riding perfect first.
Just to give you a little inspiration about your color heres some gold SCs I found

Congratulations on the purchase, no lie though...old man tan is quite possibly the weirdest and most unappealing color to ever hit SC's. That's exactly why I bought one, have fun with it.
Here's what mine looked like before it got hit

I am jelly of the color of your car. I love that color on the SC , although the color of my SC dont hurt my eyes, but i just love that color. Yes, many people wouldn't agree with me on the color but each to their own.I think you bought it for a decent price and congrats on your purchase. Welcome to CL

Oh I forgot to mention, SEAFOAM! Seafoaming it will make it run alot smoother. You have to do an oil change after though. That might fix the sluggish problem. Just look it up, theirs alot of information on here about it

As far as I know their is only one kind of seafoam. Both places carry it, its about $10 a can and is definitely worth it. Make sure you research it on these forums so you understand how to use it.
