Default ??? A while back ...

Wasn't somebody talking about doing this to their hood, in order to improve ventilation?

Did that ever happen?

Also, I've been brainstorming about various hood scoops/vents lately; are there any hoods out there with the linear, DBS-style, top vents; or perhaps the GT500-style lower-hood scoop?

Sounds interesting, let us know if you end up pulling the trigger on this? I hope you have a spare hood that you could play around with, I'd be scared to cut up a functioning hood...lol

Screw that hood propping crap. Looks like an improperly aligned hood to me. Better off taking the hood off or keeping the hood that fell victim from rear ending a box truck.

VIS and other various brand have hood with vents in them...

A couple example:

A bit of cutting/ custom work could make it resemble those hoods more.

You need to read up on aerodynamics. I suggest tune to win by carrol smith. Once you have a good understanding about pressure differentials and all that fun then you can start testing. But to answer your first suggestion compact car i think did a test tilting the hood on a miata and it dropped temp by 2 degrees Fahrenheit or some crap.

Oh and im assuming that you actually need to lower temps. Dont forget to make sure your underbody plastic is in good shape. Removing it causes turbulence which can cause heat issues.

You can pretty much guarantee that no hood for the SC has been actually aero tested. They all adhere to the idea that more holes = better and make it look presentable.

A quick google turns up Seibon having two vented styles: http://seiboncarbon.com/store/produc...t_category=228

And this CL thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...00-soarer.html

And don't prop up the rear of your hood. It's just shoddy work.

Hood propping is a recipe for a hood to head removal tool in an accident.

Yeah, I wasn't suggesting that I think its a good idea (hood propping); in fact, I think it looks like ish, haha.
I was just wondering if whoever posted it, actually went thru with it or not.
In fact, I know it'll look bad already, but I wanna see a pic of their car anyway lol.

About the hood vents; truth is, I've never seen a vented hood for the SC that I've found attractive.
I think they all look awful, and none of them compliment the original look of the car.
I want a vented hood, but I want one that appears like it came with the car originally.
The Mustang, and Aston Martin vents were just ideas, so I was wondering if it's been done, or if theres something similar, or if someone can just do a good photoshop so I can see ... I dunno about the Mustang vent yet, I just think its a cool-looking vent in-itself (it def. looks good on the Mustang!).
However, I kinda do think the Aston Martin vents would look sweet on an SC (if you line 'em up right).
Not the scoops though, just the two straight-vents, at the upper part of the hood.
