Steering Wheel Problem : In and out
Whats up CL.
After searching around I could not get an answer for my problem. I've seen the different repair threads on the steering wheel tilt, https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...ng-repair.html , but could not find anything on the Telescoping (in and out). Basically I can get the wheel to go up and down, but not out and in. When the button is pressed to go out, i can hear the tilt module relay clicking but no movement to the motor.
Ive tried:
Changing tilt control module.
I swapped out the motor for the in and out
After swapping the motor with another one, it started working, so i decided to try it out and push it in all the way in and all the way out. So when i pushed it all the way back i heard a click, and it got stuck again, before I go further I wanted to see if anyone else has had an issue with the in and out movement and if there is a fix for it.

Maybe the worm gear responsible for this movement is worn? Not sure I never encountered nor read about this issue before. Let us know how it goes.

What I did, and this was many years ago, but I went to Ace Hardware, got a few washers, and put them behind the gear. If I remember correctly, the edge of the gear which the worm gear turns gets worn out. The easy fix was to either flip the circle gear and add the washer, or just add the washer. That essentially bring more gear in contact with the worm gear. Or replace said gear with OE from Lexus, but washers are only like, 4 cents, lol.
