Default Engine mounts $1200?

I took my car for a check up and the motor mounts are due for replacement. My mechanic (who supposedly gives me good deals) told me it'll cost $1200 in labor alone. I looked for parts and found them for ~$60~$70 a piece. I cant do it myself due to my back but is $1200 reasonable? My spider senses tell me I'm about to get ripped off.

Please advice.

Wow, that's crazy. It's an easy job really. I'd say $250-300 is fair. If you're only here in CA I'd do it for $150.

wow so much for a "good deal". I'd pay for a round trip flight for you + your fees and still get it done half off lmao. Thanks for your input

wow..... id tell that mechanic to go **** himself and never come back. The book itself only calls for 2 hours or so of labor (and we all know the book inflates these times) so even if going by the book it should only cost 200-250 in labor and thats dealership rate.

My guess is he didn't even look at the motor or mounts and just "guesstimated" based on many motors needing to get pulled in order to do mounts. In that case, price may be more fair.

These motors can be lifted from above or below, and the mounts slide in very easily. Nowhere near ~$1000 for parts nor labor.
