Well My first concer is smoke. Im getting quite a bit of white smoke when the car is warm. Dosent look like oil, or coolant....The smoke is coming from the area of the turbo and downpipe.
I wrapped my downpipe with exhaust wrap and I know that smokes for a little bit If you wrap it wet but I wrapped it dry, will I still get smoke?

Also my oil light is on but my dipstick is reading at the proper level.It dosent come on right away, after a cold start it takes a moment. I was wondering if running a turbo requires more oil then not having one? If not then it must be my sensor acting up maybe?

 

The smoke was indeed caused by the exhaust wrap. Its scary how much hotter it is under the hood is now with a turbo and without the stock heat shields.

Oil light is still concerning me though. Can engine codes still be pulled on an aem? And would a bad sensor give me an oil light or throw a different type of code?

 

how is your oil feed line setup?
did you pull down your oil pan to tap the return?

 

if this is fresh wrap on the dp , its the fiberglass within the wrap burning off and "seasoning" ..

 

Yeah when you first start the for the very first time you will see some smoke from the manifold after a couple minutes it will go away.

Do you have the oil light ON? which one oil pressure or oil level?

No you can't pull no codes on aem ems.

what do you think is happening that you may have to pull the codes?

 

Ok so a little update. Nothing is smoking under my engine bay any longer but I am burning alot of oil that I believe is coming from my turbo.

I have a 4an line running to my turbo with an inline filter that acts as an orifice. Maybe its not small enough? I have a Journal Bearing Pt6265. What size orifice should I be running?

 

Get with your turbo manufacturer to get the correct restrictor for your oil feed and make sure you have the recommend sized return. If the return is not properly sized it can be a restriction causing excessive oil pressure. You will also want your turbo oil return clocked as close to the 6 o'clock position for the oil to flow efficiently.
