My wife's 97 Lex SC300 has a bad Harmonic Balancer according to her father.
Symptoms
At low speeds with the AC ON the AC button will start to flash. If you press the button flashing the car will start to stutter , the battery light comes on, and acts like it is going to die.
Father-in-law
He said the balancer pulley was loose when watching the engine running. When I came back he had the pulley out, but that was it. It was just the pulley with no middle. The pulley looked like it is suppose to be glued to another portion?

What did he do?? Did he forget to pull the harmonic balancer part out??
When checking around .. The part is about $300 . $300 for a pulley is hard to swallow .. especially if it is GLUED to another part..
Father-in-law only speaks Spanish. Am I missing something in the translation or am I going to end up paying double to eventually take the car to the dealership to have them fix it???
