Hi I'm new to these forums and signed up looking for some advice. I'm looking a 1992 Lexus SC300 right now and debating on whether or not to purchase it. It has a whopping 265k miles on it but i really like it because it is the only stock 5 speed in my area that i have seen in a while. It is priced at 3000 by the dealer. Would this be a good purchase? And what is the average price for a good swap on it in case the engine fails soon after the purchase?

 

hmmmm for me i wouldnt pay 3 grand becase the mileage is to high.

id rather pay little more for a lower mileage one.

 

Yeah i was thinking the same, but its so hard to come across a factory 5 speed that's why i was debating it.

 

yes they are non existent here in canada im sure others will tell u to get it,,,,,,,pics, details would be nice

 

How is the carfax?

Any receipts in the glove box?

The body, any form of rust, ding, dents?

Interior clean?

Everything works?


Many things to think about here. I would say normal for a dealer price, but a little high from an individual. If you are set on having a five speed, then buy it. Its your money, and your future car. We can help on fixing anyhting about it in a matter of using the search button on here... :-)

The dealership that has it is closed now but ill talk to them tomorrow and see. I doubt it though its kinda hard to negotiate with dealerships. ill find out after i get some more info on the car

 

Dont buy it unless the maintenance was meticulous and all the stuff that goes out on sc's has been replaced

 

What are the main thing that would have to be replaced? I'm sorry I'm kinda new to Lexus in general
