Default Transmisson Hard Shifting

I have 190k on my car i just took it in for service. I was also hearing a clunk when reversing other guys in the forum said replace bushings and upper control arm. The toyo mechanic said they looked fine and he thought it was the brakes but i said do it anyway cause car was geTTing very old and also the sounds that it makes sound way bigger than brakes hitting the shim. Anyways got Tranny flushed also but when i am slowing down and tranny is down shifting it still drops in to first or maybe it is second very hard. Sound ike the gear is getting force in there. Only happens sometimes. Ohh and also the weirdest thing one day i put it in reverse and it would not catch then it engaged. I tried reverse again but it has been fine. FYI they only put one control arm in the other is on back order. Hey guys i am open to all suggestions.

I also have a clunk when I put car in reverse, and I talked to a Lexus tech and he said it was just the gears engaging. Dont really have any of the other problems you mention though.

Try changing tranny fluid. It depends if they use half a gallon or a full gallon. Your clutch is probably slipping. I know you have auto tranny, they do have clutch. Otherwise, i think you need new tranny. Every time i have change tranny fluid, the car change gears smoothly, un noticeable.
