IS250 steering wheel in a SC400
Hello everybody, i m new here and already start with silly question !
I wrote SC400 because it's a Lexus forum and don't wanna be impolite talking about Supra , but in fact it's for that car.
So i like to change my steering wheel by a IS250 steering for the look and because i want stereo remote on my wheel.
My concerns:
1. Airbag
I know that in my Supra (=sc400) there is a single stage airbag while in the IS250 it's a dual one.
But why i coudn't simply and quicly change the inflator in the IS250 airbag by the one from my Supra steering as those are same shape/size ?
2. Stereo remote wiring
here i think i only need the slip ring from the IS250 (need it also for the airbag off course). After i will use an aftermarket stereo, so i can problably make myself some harness to it.
3. Fitting
here i don't know, do you think this wheel would fit in my Supra ? the central screw is the same ? any mechanical issue ?
Of course another option would be to go with a SC/GS430 wheel with remote on it...

well not sure about the airbag or the fitting. but the remote wiring (if getting the 2is wheel and aftermarket unit) you can get a unit like the SWI JACK which you are able to program the stock remote wiring into the aftermarket unit.

If you have an eclipse unit, no SWIX is required Part of the reason I would like to get one, but you are correct it's a simple connection if you have a different aftermarket unit.

Eclipse is/was made by Fujitsu Ten, the same company that has been making Toyota Radios for the past 3 decades at least. What's nice is it's a single plug that runs from steering wheel to back of radio, no interface required

I don't wanna go with Eclipse for few reasons: i don't need GPS, i want a rotating volume ****, i want a flat panel to flush the dashboard and at least the last Eclipse unit is too expensive !
So probably go with JVC AV60BT unit

here a comparison between a IS200 and IS250 airbag. As you can see the ignitors are same size !
So with just a ignitor swap you can install a IS250 steering wheel in a SC300/400 with fonctioning airbag
