Arrow 1992 SC400 Engine Shuts Down When Moving Shifter into any Gear

Hello,
I'm working on a 92 SC400 that is shutting down the engine when moving the shifter into any gear, (only when engine is warm) The problem does not present itself when the engine is still cold. I can start it up and drive it around, but after a couple minutes it starts to stall as if the torque converter is in a full lockup condition.
The customer has another car he uses for parts, so we took the transmission out and swapped it over only to have the same problem. So next, I replaced the pattern select switch at the bottom of the shifter mechanism with no results.
There is no check engine light, no poor idle, the engine kills when you just begin to move the car out of park or neutral into gear. It kills before the load is even applied.
Is the Pattern Select Switch the same as the Neutral Safety Switch/ Range sensor on this car? I havent found my alldata program to be helpful with the electrical circuits or theory of operation related to this problem.
Any help or information on where to turn to would be greatly appreciated.

Pull the ECU (passenger floorboard) and check it for bad caps. You can have all kinds of unexplainable problems when it gets wonky.

It sure is a hell of a lot easier than swapping the whole trans!
