I need a little help navigating here
Hi All,
I just bought a 94 sc300, cheap, that has a solid drivetrain, but needs some work. I joined here yesterday, and have been trying to navigate around to learn things w/o asking a bunch of questions that may seem like a nusiance to those of you who have answered them before.
I'm having a real hard time finding the info I need though.
I guess I'll have to be a nusiance!
Here are a few questions --- if you could provide answers, or help steer me to the right threads, I'd be grateful.
1) I can't find any of the common automotive service manuals (Haynes, Chiltons) for the SC300 Lexus. Am I out of luck with seeking inexpensive manuals? Is the 3 volume factory set (for pretty big bucks) all there is? If so, do memebers know the cheapest way to obtain them?
2) I'm seeing a lot of beautiful SCs, with significant mods here. Right now I just want to bring this 94 into solid, stock condition. Is there a way to search out threads for helping me do that, without having to wade through the really cool things that most of you seem to have done, but are presently beyond my bank account? Stuff like serpantine belt/pulley tips, tire ideas on stock 15" rims, fluid flushes and changes, common maintanance items,. cross references to find parts on other Toyota products at the boneyards that are common to the 3.0 SC, and things like that?
I envey a lot of you the beautiful cars I'm seeing pictured here, but I just don't have the means to put that much love into this SC300 these days. I was hoping to find help to make this one a good, solid, basically stock vehicle, in good repair, then begin with a few minor improvements, that might help economy and performance (air intake, exhaust, etc.)
Thanks in advance,
Steve
