audio help!

Default audio help!

hey guys another question for you....i have a clarion dvd/mp3/cd/cd-r player in my ride..it is a single din unit that fits right under my clarion fold out screen..i have had it for about 3 months and the quality of my audio sounds like ****.and it was like that form the very begining....it is somewhat distorted when i play cd/cd-r but when i play dvd's it sounds perfect....any ideas on why this could be happening.....i havent done too much trouble shooting yet.....i know that the player is clean, none of the cds that i play in my car are scratched....im kind of getting used to the way it sounds but when my friends get in my car, there like WTF!!.....please help

Your headunit probably uses 4ohms while the OEM speakers run at 8ohms from what I remember. You will need new aftermarket speakers and a amp as well. This should solve your problem.

You have and MTX amp running your 12's but what runs your other speakers?

DVD's play audio that is mainly base and midrange. No using highs or midbass and the vocals are less demanding than full range music.

What part of Cali are you in?

Define "sounds like ****". I don't know what exactly that means and can't help you until I do. Simple solution is to take it back to the installer and tell him to fix it for you. He will do it free of charge.

well i didnt actually specify what type of amp i have......but it is a jl audio 4 ch amp.....the sound is pretty distorted...low sounds good but the highs sound pretty bad....the deck that i had before in my car didnt sound like this, and actually provided pretty good sound....i had a pioneer...dont remeber wich model....it was pretty simple.....a friend of mine is the one that did the install

o and im from elk grove cali (sacramento)
