Car Audio? Why few have it?

Most of the "upgrades" I have seen look like they're in "pimpmobiles" or "lowriders." They usually ruin the sleek, classic good looks of the OEM installation.
As for sound, most upgrades do little more than generate sound levels that are absolutely deafening or simply make an annoying “boom-boom-boom” sound that can be heard in another car or inside a house.

Well most people who brag about their systems and such are going for a show look. I know that yes my system will probably be loud, it won't be loud bass, its going to be more musical. I had bass in my old civic and I loved it during the time. Then I bought another civic and bought louder bass but then bought a nice set of 3 way components with a 2 channel amp(rated 50 watts x 2) and I absolutely love it. And that was when it wasn't even mounted in kick panels. I don't think I could ever go back to all bass.

SMARK, you couldn't be further from the truth. I had the Nak system, a $2200 option, and my install blows it away in every aspect. Oh, Rich, update, there's now a very tall stack of blue Alpine boxes propped up against the Sony 43", right in my view when I go to sleep at night
, I picked up the PXA-H510, the SBS-0715, and two sets of SPR-176A's (okay, okay, DEB picked them up....), but they may never find their way into the SC, a very nice 'Alpine' Silver (hehe) MKIV a few miles from here may be up for sale soon, had planned on waiting a few more months, but if this one goes on the market i'll change my plans, in the meantime the boxes look purrrty....
Jon, its nice to see ya post again. I haven't seen you post in awhile. So is the Supra change the reason for not browsing CL as often?

Nah, I wouldn't do that, just been busy with work, and to be honest, I was getting a little fed up with trash-talking kids on here that were constantly giving mis-advice, and a few vendors and GB's that never worked out, but I would never abandon my fellow Lex-pushers, just needed a little breather to concentrate on work. It's still a toss-up between doing an SC300-T or a MKIV TT, I need a flawless car to work on, so it'll probably take several more months to find what I need, upon inspection I found that the Supra had been to the bodyshop for some minor work, so that killed the deal for me, i'll just take my time and look, no rush, besides it's hard to think about horsepower when i'm here getting hammered by a snow storm, have I ever mentioned that TRAC is practically useless on 18" rubber until they clear the roads?, I got about three blocks away before I gave up trying to get to work. I have a set of new GT+4's on chrome Lexus rims, i'll throw them on and hope for the best, otherwise i'll be kidnapping Deb's RX for a couple of days...

Yeah I have noticed also that there seems to be more tention on the boards for some reason. I hope you find the car that you want! I'm also glad that I didn't get my lexus earlier since she wouldn't be garaged this winter and would have been my daily driver in this great NY snow
