I bought solid shifter bushings for a W58/V160 off ebay for $10
Then while installing them I broke the tripod, and I had to use some redneck engineering and buy some JB Weld, and Superglue it together. Seems to work for now. In the meantime may try to source out another (which has been a PITA, I can't find any for sale)
The bushings definitely increase the feel of the shifter and makes it more precise when shifting. It used to be a guessing game for me whenever I would shift from 2nd to 3rd.
hey thanks for your interest on my thred
i like your build a lot. wat trans are you running at the moment? cause i say that you have a 1j and you were buying w58 bushings. i was wondering how the w58 holds up with the 1j? im trying to figure out engine options
hey man, cars looking good. do i remember you being on AZAWD? im new here but glad to see some active AZ people
Did you ever go out to any of the meets? I used to go to the In N Out meet on the west side every Friday.

I actually am running a Soarer R154. Since the late series W58 and all V160's both run the tripod setup, I was able to purchase bushings made for either of those trans and it worked no problem.
Nice job with the SEM painting! Plan on doing it this summer as well but lazy to remove everything haha
Thank you!
I don't blame you for being lazy haha. It really is a PITA to take everything apart. I now have cracks in all my AC vents, I completely broke off the wooden surrounding the far right passenger vent, and there was a lot of cursing haha.
Hey guys, just a quick update. I pulled the motor and tranny again. I'm 99% sure I blew my rear diff, below I included a video. I'll update you guys in a few days when I pull the rear diff out.
Wait, so you took out the HVAC unit, painted the dash then put the unit back in?
Yes and no haha. I took the old HVAC unit that had a broken tab inside of it. Whenever I would brake the AC would get super hot, and whenever I gave it gas then AC would come back. The flap that control whether to block the heater core or let it pass was broken inside, and there is no way to fix it except replacing the whole unit.
So yes, I took the unit out, replaced it, and painted the dash at the same time.
