Should I get this SC400?
It was an option from the factory. Usually if an SC has the traction control button and a Nakamichi stereo, it will have heated seats. This applies to both the SC300 and SC400.
Met with the guy today, I don't think I'm gonna do it. The driver seat was pretty destroyed, the cluster lights were out, the hood clearcoat was gone, and some on the rear bumper, and I'm pretty sure the power steering pump is about to go. But all in all, it was my first time driving an sc400. I'm 6'5" and have never been so comfortable in my life.. and the power was great and the auto transmission is smooth. Hopefully I can sell my car and find a good SC for around 5k...
as somebody who bought the top ten cheapest SC's, I will totally advocate spending just a little more, and getting something that's nicer.
none of the problems you listed are incredibly hard to fix, but they do add up quick (130 for gauge cluster fixed, 250 for seat, 400 for paint, 200 for a power steering pump...that's nearly a grand, not including labor!!!)
Then there's the stuff you missed, the upgrades...
It would be better than an audi, but still. at least the audi, I am sure you've learned the quirks.
btw, there seems to be a few nice sc's here in the OKC metro.

Hey I'd say 2500 maybe a little higher but for sure talk him down. Tell him to shove that kbb up his a**. But the hood get you a hose, soap, 1k grit sand paper, maguires scratch X, and a 3M buff pad! Fix paint make it look like new on the whole car!!! Good buy!
That's too expensive for the car that it is. Here in MD you can get that same car for less than 2 grand if you sit around and be patient. I think you'll definitely find a better deal.. just hang on to that Audi for a little bit longer until the right one comes.
And for those that are talking about how much of a "nightmare" buying an SC will be... just make sure you go over a few things with the seller in regards to maintenance..
You can kind of tell when someone takes care of their car or not.. and judging by visual issues that car has, it most likely hasn't been kept up to do with its mechanical maintenance.

Yes I am 100% sure I had mine like that. Wet sand and polish and your good but all the othe problems I'd get a differen car anyways. Thad way to much for that car in that condition just saying if you look you can find some amazing deals. But yeah on the 6'5" note I am as well and yeah sc is nice for that.
I can't believe anyone would complain about $4k (if you paid full asking price plus all repairs) to get what would then be a very nice car. What else can you buy that approaches these cars for that kind of money? People sell cars for many reasons, and I don't know a single seller who wants to fix something for the new owner. Buy it and do it yourself or skip it and leave it for someone else.
There's all this guff about how SC values are in the basement yet everyone wants to offer $1.50 for the ones listed for sale, and then only if the seller buys them lunch too!
The car for sale has only cosmetic issues. That's the easiest thing to fix yourself, and you can do it on your own schedule. After 20 years on the road I'd call that a very good car.
