Default Pretty funny question

Hello

Since I've owned my SC400 (about 5 months) I didn't have to get power steering fluid... I went to the dealer and asked for power steering fluid and they gave me the dextron ATF fluid? Is this what I am suppose to use? It says for automatic transmission. I don't want to screw up my car. I Don't have my car manual either.

and i thought it was only me.... Sorry i cant be real specific about where the leak is b/c i dont know for sure but i have the same problem. My power steering pump leaks fluid all over my altenator and i didn't realize it till this passing weekend.
a couple of months ago i had to replace the altenator and a couple weeks ago my altenator light came on and i was thinking WTF??? Then on the weekend i was doing some under the hood work and notice that all this nasty grease was all over my altenator again and realized that my pump was leaking all over it. If you find an EZ fix lemme know, otherwise i'll jus replace the entire pump.

my power steering pump went bad a couple months ago and since then i got it replaced. good thing it didn't jack up my alternator.

my suggestion is, if you have a leak in your PS pump or whatever, get it fixed before you have to fix your alternator also. this seems to be a common problem in the SC's.

Two sources. Power steering high pressure hose and the canister. Need to replace the POWER STEERING FLUID CONTAINTER.

The power steering pump leak is an easy fix, Lexus list a seal kit & a vane repair kit for it.

In most cases it is simply the front shaft seal leaking behind the pulley, I heard you can even do this with the pump in-situ by removing the belt and pulley.

See my site under "Repairs" for more details.
