Power steering fluid or atf
Changing my power steering pump(oem) today along with a flush. Wut r u guys running power steering fluid or atf? My old cap says atf and new one says ps fluid.

Your new cap must be off of a whole different vehicle. SC300 requires DEXTRON III or higher ATF.

thats a good question kimosabi!!! i thought the same exact thing today seeing as they didnt have atf at the gas station!
waiting on answer... i wonder what will happen if i just use PS fluid... lol |
I'm completely oblivious to this....atf = auto trans fluid, right?
and we run that in our ps?? wow. |
Most japanese use atf in the ps pump. My bro works at lexus and he asked the tech and he said u can use both. I'm trying to figure out which one is the most preferred

ATF for the win! haha i say that because first off its what lexus built it to run on, second its got more anti oxidant, third its not as thick as ps fluid allowing a smoother flow and less build up

i use ATF on my SC300

something in ps fluid can (and apparently does) eat seals on jap power steering systems.
I frequently hear old school guys say they're the same. maybe 50 years ago when leaded gas was available they were, but not anymore. |
i use PS fluid in my rack, 91 SC4

93 soarer is DexII (so newer stuff is ok dex III)
