Yup I would never keep anything like this on my car to long. I always try to use oem parts and do things the correct way. Sometimes you have to do something to get you by. You can also take note at materials that can hold up for different projects and fab work.

GREAT NEWS! (: The new mounts I got from Ulltra-products on Ebay work 100% I contacted them and talked to them for 30 minutes to give them all the details. They cost 170.00 + free shipping for polyurethane mounts, they're made to fit 89-92 Supra's. I used the dimensions to make my mounts so I figured if someone can make mounts in 25 minutes to work great for 2 weeks, then these should work.

They're awesome! They work so great, my mallets were still in relatively good shape. I could have gone with them for about 2 1/2 more weeks. They were very happy to hear how well they worked. I am very ambitious when it comes to trying new things and helping the community out.

The motor in my car is a 1JZ.
This is the link to what i bought.

I love how you got the photo with the wood showing through. It looks so clean that you'd never know it was a mallet if you couldn't see the wood! That's hilarious.

Though I definitely applaud your ingenuity and creativity in coming up with a temporary fix, hell we've all had to do it at one point or another, my concern is safety.

My intent is not to chastise your decision to use a rubber mallet, but for anyone else that may encounter the need to improvise, know that there are other more suitable products to use for "rigging".

Consider using Acetal/Delrin rods that can be cut to length and shaped to fit.

Peace
