Default Weird high pitched sound when I step on the gas (Sometimes)

I noticed that in the afternoon after I haven't driven my car for maybe 7 or 8 hours (After school) when I step on the gas I start to hear a strange high pitched sound as I rev. I popped my hood as soon as I got home with the engine on and realized the sound was coming from the timing belt's area. You guys have any idea what it could be? The car seems fine when it's early in the morning or later towards night. I think it's when its warmer during the day.

I had a Beetle that did something similar. I remember that it tied into the HVAC somehow. It would do it at a stop or idle as well though.

Was your AC on?

my guess is start looking at the harmonic balancer bro. when i got my sc i had that same noise if i turned the wheels all the way to the side. turned out the balancer was shot and literally about to fly apart and destroy my engine. time for a tune up bro. balancer, timing belt, waterpump, drive belt, and tensioner. cost me about 1800 after getting the ati super damper. sorry chief.

edit if you open your hood get her running and rev it at the throttle body and your balancer moves forward its boned. watch for wobble too. also i could see the belt slipping on mine when i revved it.

I agree the harmonic balancer should be thoroughly inspected, but another possible culprit in the area could be your timing belt tensioner (btw, these can be changed w/o removing the belt or the damper). Any possibility it's neither, but just the serpentine belt tensioner or alternator instead?
