Okay, so I replace the "courtesy sensor" in my door (which was a *****) and the damn chime is STILL CHIMING!!!!!! I think it has something to do with the sunroof sensor now (the switch that opens and closes the roof). I drove the car the other day and went through the touch free car wash and as I pulled out, a whole bunch of water came from the area where the switch/lights are on the roof. So i'm HOPING that by replacing this switch, it will solve the problem of THE CHIME. . .

It's interesting that you, the OP, and I all have 97 SC300s in FL with the same problem. Anywho... Isn't the sunroof chime just 4 chimes and then it stops. Also, I thought only earlier model SCs had a sunroof chime?

I pulled the dome fuse as a temporary fix but i'm without power locks and other conveniences.

I just fixed this today. It was the "relay integration" box that is attached to the fuse block in the driver's side footwell. The link above has more info on how to find it.

SOLID300 I still have my relay integration box I bought BRAND NEW from Lexus for some unGodly amount of money (I think it was $250)...Anyway, I sold my SC before I had a chance to install it but if you wanna buy it, you're welcome to it. Ive been meaning to throw it up in the for sale section for a few months now. Anyway, PM me if you're interested.

I still have this integration box brand new. I've been through 4 more SC's since this one (all 99's and 2000's) and none have had this issue. Even one SC I bought from VA that had 234K miles on it w/ no chime. I couldn't figure that out. My original car (the '97) has been bought and sold 3 or 4 times over since I sold it and I don't know that that problem was ever sorted out.

LOL. Luckily I still own two lexus's so I am still somewhat active on the forum. I do have the integration relay box at home. I'll check and take a pic later this evening. PM me w/ your cell number.

Throwing another hail mary, since I am experiencing this problem as well on my 97 SC300. Looks like the SorarerWorld link from above is dead now what ended up being the actual fix? Replacing the whole integration relay or something simpler? Thanks in advance for y'alls help!

I bought his integration relay so no hail mary this time. I didn't have the chime issue, mine was the dome light randomly coming on when driving at night. I vaguely remember it not chiming when inserting the key at night too? Also the light ring around the key wouldn't illuminate either. It's been a while, I don't remember all my specifics. The new integration relay did fix it though. Good luck in your search. You can have it rebuilt probably, but it's easier to just source a used one.

ah, thanks. So you just took out the old integration relay and put in the new one and that was it? Any tutorials you followed to do that? Seems like I’m going to have to yank out a lot of brittle plastic and wires to get back there.

My problem started off with just the dome light flickering and ignition ring light being always on before spreading to the God-forsaken bell chiming. Was even chining away while I was driving for a little while (instead of just when ignition is off like it is now). Was almost enough to make me want to get rid of the ride after all these years
