When upgrading your SC..
Trade sell same difference. You would probably get more on a built sc trade than trying to sell it. The point of this though wasnt are you going to sell though I was just wondering how often people hit a point where they just stop spending.

eff resale...im pretty sure everyone who bought a sc is gonna keep it because its a timeless vehicle literally. you can mod it too 500+ horsepower, drift or drag, or even leave it bone stock its aways gonna turn heads no matter what.
i will always keep my sc this is true love

If you mod cars with the expectation of a dollar-for-dollar return upon sale, you're an idiot, plain and simple. As long as the enjoyment you get from the car makes spending the money worthwhile, you're okay. If or when that stops, you may as well sell the car, suck up the loss and move on.
the only resale market for sc's is in OAKLAND and at minimum the sc has to have 20" rims or Bigger. and in oakland u can get more money if u have ugly colors, the big L on both driver and passenger doors... like so..
^ lol.
I had the same concern as the OP. But Im modding based on the thought that I can part the mods (or keep em for a fitting car). I'd say you'd lose the least money by parting if you decide to sell a modded SC.

Resale you mean i'm gonna be able to sell it??? I'm well over 15k in the car and I honestly beat the s*** out it that is why I built it... I figure it will end up in the scrap yard from a crash at the track or at tx2k lol I doubt anyone gonna wana buy it for a fraction of what I put in it as you can buy a stock tt supra for it
.I wish these cars had a better resale value like the Supra
.
Heck those that have the deep pockets already have them... most just do the gte swap and beat the snot out of them... Because those that mod the car just abuse the hell out of the car because we know you can simply crash it go get another for 1.3k - 5k in a heartbeat and swap the salvageable parts and start over again... I mean honestly I'm on my third sc300 and I'm looking for another backup shell soon.
You don't buy an SC/Soarer for it's resale thesedays.
Saying that though, to me they are still a timeless shape, and most newer cars that I like are out of my price range and cars in my price range is a Camry or something like that...

With modding, I don't expect to get a lot for my car if/when I sell it but after the interior restoration, brakes, suspension and TT wheels I won't let it go for relative peanuts either. Since I'm in CA I haven't decided whether or not it's worth it to me to swap in a 2JZGTE and R154 and later on eat the entire cost of a turbo engine conversion when I'll never get near close to that amount in trying to sell it.
To spend another $8k-$10k just to go faster when I might as well buy a used 2005 Legacy GT 5-speed down the road... that's not an easy one from an emotional standpoint. I DO really like this car and I think it's worth a turbo engine swap because it's a dream to drive and looks amazing but I am also not rich enough to blow thousands on my only car only to have it taken from me in an accident and not be able to replace it with something comparable.
This car is the last time I will ever go from a newer car to an older car after someone totals my current one. I could have had newer but newer in my price range left me almost zero choices for this criteria: coupe, 3500lbs or less, manual transmission, RWD, independent rear suspension, bulletproof engine, "legal" turbocharging friendly and/or 300 horsepower.
Given the kind of car the SC is and the kind of support I've seen for it as a muscle coupe I'm just a tiny bit perplexed as to why it isn't worth a bit more, but it isn't. Fox 5.0 Mustangs are modified and tend to legitimately hold more value the more they have done to them. Personally I don't see how the SC is any different once a turbo has been bolted on but that's the market.
My bottom line is that I think some "usual suspects" modifications to the brakes and suspension do something to at least stabilize the value of an SC a little. Having a clean interior and clean paint job help too. Beyond that once money is dumped into horsepower I think resale in the real world isn't affected much at all. At least that's the impression I get. I own this car primarily because it's convenient, fun to drive, reliable, subtly unique and timeless.
I'd love horsepower but I don't plan to lose $8k+ for it in case it gets t-boned or stolen and has no replacement value. Sadly resale value falls into the same boat it seems.

why would you go that route when the 2jzgte has more potential for hp? the 2jzgte can handle around 700-800 without internal upgrades to the motor also the legacy to me looks more like a soccer mom car than a sports car
