My owner's manual for a 1993 SC300 notes that the oil capacity with filter change is 4.1 U.S. quarts. My SC300 shop manual has 5.1 qts. with filter change and 4.1 for the SC400. Based on the dip stick, the SC300 needs 5 qts. My MKIII Supra required 4 qts.. Am I missing something here?

 

I have no idea what a quart is cuz I am in Canada and we are on metric, but I am pretty sure my manual says 4.7 liters and I always bring in 5 liters and they use it all up.

 

SC400 is about 5.1-5.3qts not 4. What is the point of this question again?

 

Yea the manual said 4.1qt with filter change. I put in 4.1qt and the oil barely touch the stick. I had to add another qt to have the oil somewhere in between the L and F on the dip stick. I was wondering the same thing ....

 

its in the back cover of the car manual. 400 takes 5.1 Qts.

 

I've owned my 93 SC300 for 3 months now and decided to change to synthetic Mobil1. My Owner's manual on the last page (Gas Station Information) states that the oil capacity of an SC300 with filter change is 4.1 qt. (3.9 L, 3.4 Imp. qt.). When I used that amount, the oil level didn't even reach the dip stick (cold). This could be due to 2 things. The capacity in the owner's manual is incorrect or my dip stick is short :eek: My shop manual, on the other hand, has a capacity of 5.1 qt. for the SC300 which must be the correct amount since I can now get a reading on the dip stick.
