Default Turbo + Intercooler for SRT

Hey guys, look at this chart
http://www.hypeweb.com/turbokits.htm

It looks like the SRT Stage I and II difference is mainly the Intercooler?
Is that worth the $1000 difference?
I've rarely heard of a turbo kit w/out one.
Also, if I just get Stage I, can I install another make's intercooler later on?

Not sure how all this works. Please give a few tips. Thanks.

Adding $1000 for an intercooler is typical in the business. Remember that it also includes the custom piping to and from the intercooler. If I were to get any kind of forced induction setup for a car I would always want an intercooler on it regardless of the amount of boost.

frankly that chart is BS... the only thing holding you back from running anymore boost on the T04E is the fuel issue... the 1st stage comes with 440cc injectors; you can get a MKIV fuel pump or 255lph Walboro on your own... and run the boost up to around 12psi on stock compression...

even higher with 8.5:1 CR

and remember, that kit is made for the VVTI motor; SRT doesn't cater to or even like 1st gen 2jz's and 1uz's at all, there's nothing special they have to sell you to make it work, so they make less money. They feel they can make more money off the VVTI cars because they cost more money since they are newer and require more stuff to get around the stock restrictions (like VVTI)

Seeing as how a T04E turbo only costs about $600 and a stock sidemount from a MKIV is only around $100; custom ic piping and downpipe and manifold make up the majority of the price...
and they aren't worth $3000

if you could find a custom manifold; you could build yourself a kit like that for around $1250 + the price of the manifold

Dag, I was just gonna post that I have a VVTi motor even though it's a 97. I took my camera and opened the hood and low and behold it didn't say VVTi. I've been an idiot all along thinking i've got an anomaly or a motor.
The good thing about SRT is that they are in MD and very close to me. I can get it done in a weekend's time, whereas Toyomoto is not only much much more expensive, but I have to take the time out to go down to miami and wait longer. Just a whole lot more hassle.
I also don't know how 2 piece anything together myself so that's not really an option. I guess I'll wait and see how SRT turbo's perform and reliablity wise in the next year. Maybe by then they'll come out with one for non-VVTi's. Supraforums have already stated that they are in the works.
