I disassembled them soaked them overnight in a water and dish soap. Cleaned the major dirt and grit with a toothbrush. Removed any contaminants, such as oil with alcohol and let it dry before laying down the base coat.

4 Coats of base and 3 coats of clear using engine enamel.

1 use a small DA sand to bear metal then use acid edge primer then paint and clear coat and assemble

+1 with what Cam said. Make sure you use a high temp paint.

Worked for me on several occasions. Mine was already bare metal so others may have to remove paint; therefore, adding a step. Haven't had any issues with the paint chipping and such. Been about two years on one car and four on another.

Many solutions to a single problem.

Here is a write-up on my Rotoras getting painted

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...k-project.html

Prepping is everything

1. Go to Wal-Mart, buy both a jumbo wire brush and a small one

2. Together with a few cans of brake cleaner, use the wire brushes to take off the old finish

3. Cover the holes and wash it off w soap and water

4. Let it air dry

5. Plug the holes w towel and mask off the pistons

6. Spray it with primer (preferably one from an auto body supply shop)

7. Spray with color of choice. Any paint from Home Depot or AUtozone

8. Spray clear coat (preferably one from an auto body supply shop, like Transtar Quik Clear)

9. Let it cure for a week or so.

10. Wax it.

11. Tape it up to protect it agaisnt scratches during install

Actually, the whole thing is about "high temp" paint for calipers is sort of a marketing thing.

The brake caliper unit itself doesn't get very hot, especially a non-floating one. Regular car paint lasts just fine like everything else, if not more durable.

decided not to be lazy and raw the front of the calipers today, i may just paint the front and leave the OG coat on the back.

i went and bought a cheap craftsman evolv corded drill and got a fine wire wheel and went to town for like 30mins and got them pretty rawed. now time to choose a color!

btw i weighed them! 8.8 pounds each(no pads or hardware, just pistons and all seals) in case someone didn't know even though that info is probably floating around somewhere.
