See my garage, I don't recommend an NA-T build to anybody looking to get to or near 5oorwhp... My car is an auto, and it was a half-finished project from a friend of mine, and the amount of money for what it makes makes me smile.

The thing is, he's talking 4-500hp, not what the stock GTE makes. If all he wanted has 3-350, then a swap would make sense as it doesn't take much beyond the swap to get to those numbers. To get to where he wants to be will take another couple of grand dumped on top of a swap, so why not just spend the money on what he already has ? There's not any magic in motors out of Japan, they're just parts like what we have here. I know its not ZOMG!!! JDM tyhte! but build the ge motor, put a good turbo on it and a stand alone.

Whoa.. This topic has been done to death. If you are only looking for 300-350whp NA-T is the cheap/easiest route. My quickest NA-T install was 10 hours with hardware, welding intercooler pipes and tuning.

Anything over that would require pulling the head to replace the headgasket. That just opens up more problems/expenses. Then I would just do the GTE swap. Any GTE swap will have bigger injectors and won't need as much tuning, which will save you alot of money and headaches!

I guess I'm one of the few that doesn't mistake their car for a race car and actually enjoy the adequate power the stock motor has. Besides for the $$$ for GTE Swap I'd rather get a SC400 to have both SCs

Hahaha

Out of the few cars I have driven the SC300 feels underpowered. The 92-97 SC400s feel the same way. The one 1998 SC400 I drove felt the bare minimum of adequate.

Well I don't need to be looking for anymore tickets . And for Miami's bumper to bumper traffic it's adequate .

I like to think most of us aren't 16 year old high school students where performance equals trouble with the law.

What about when a driver tried merging into our lane without making sure the coast is clear? Or when we need to merge onto a freeway with fast moving traffic.

I think having better performance makes driving safer.

When you have some power it's kinda hard to no to let loose .
And that's what I use the ECT PWR button is for

If I could get a good condition Supra engine locally with all the bells and whistles, skip any maintenance and do all the work myself I priced it out to around 3000.

If I went to the fully monty but still did all the work myself I priced it out closer to 5000.
