Default JDM Soarer Questions

Whats up ClubLexus,
I finally got my Soarer on Jack Stands to see whats going on. I have two different leaks for sure. My powersteering pump is leaking. My Turbo's stop spooling and I am not sure why. Although not very important to me right this second. Anyway I have 3 questions.

1. Are power steering pumps from the 1JzGTE the same as the pumps from a 2JZGE and if not what are my options.

2. I have an oill leak. I know it's not from the main or rear seals. I see an electrical sensor which seems to have a stream of oil on it. Is the 1jzgte notorious for oil leaks? If so where should I look first.

3. I have a stock set of twin turbos's for a 2jzgte. will they also work on a 1jzgte
I have read that they will not just trying to make sure before I sell or trade the for and extra set of 1jzgte turbos.

4. I live in Atlanta GA, does any know of a PROFESSIONAL shop or individual that specialize in 1and 2J's?

A few pictures of the inside of the car after I cleaned, shampooed and scrubbed for hours...

1) source a reconditioned one from australia.

2) nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnno not really notorious for oil leaks. you know what cars ARE notorious for oil leaks? ones that lack maintenence and service history. spray the engine with degreaser and see where the oil is coming from. as for the O2 sensor - clean it.

3) no they won't. 1jz run a set of parallel turbos. meaning both spool up at the same time. TT Supra run sequential turbos to run at different times in the power curve, so no they're totally different!

seems to me like your soarer needs some care... which needs to be given.

that said... your problems are not "import toyota" specific. they are "crap car" specific.

as in - it's not like a particular part that is made for that car and that car only has blown up..

TT turbos are reknown for stuffing up in their old age - as are ANY turbo of that age. replace it.

oil leaks - fix them.

power steering pump - get the bearings and the gaskets from a shop and recondition it.

dont know how to do it?
google it!

The oil leak is probably from the oil pressure switch on the intake side of the block. They are a common leak spot and a pain in the *** to get to. I had to remove the power steering pump to get to it and it was still a pain. But it's an cheap fix just go to toyota and pick up he bolt replacement.
