Default Brake Switch discussion

So i have a 1996 Lexus SC300.

This past June (2010) i had my car stuck in park. i checked the fuses..the stop light was blown, so i put a new fuse in, blew again. put a new stop light switch in, and it was fine. car ran and drove pefect, until this past Tuesday, (12/7/10) When the car did the same thing, except the fuse seemed fine, but the prongs on the fuse seemed somewhat corroded? so i replaced the brake switch AGAIN. and it was fine. now today it has seemed to start acting up again, sometimes it works, other times it does.

any idea why it goes bad? or are the "aftermarket" (advanced auto, napa) ones just junk? or do i have an underlying issue somewhere that keeps making this go bad?

the car is pretty much stock just a aftermarket headunit,k&n drop in and Supra TT springs/shocks.

Mine did that, then I figured out it was 2 fuses that got tapped into from the previous owner's remote start. (Whoever installed the system are idiots) I had to use the over ride button to get it out of park, and my brake lights didn't work. I've got a genuine Toyota/Lexus brake light switch if someone needs it. I have no use for it now.

i have the same problem except my fuse is fine and ive swapped 3 different switches on the pedal. i think my problem is the former owner did a custom stereo system and ive got no 3rd brake light. is there a way to bypass this problem?

I had a similar problem in my old SC. My horn would blow the fuse, which would also kill the hazards. I replaced the furse a few times, even with a larger one. But nothing helped, it would always blow. Never did figure it out..
