Default Spark Plug Wires

Hey everyone, I am thinking about getting my spark plugs changed when I go home in two weeks, first off, how hard is it to do yourself?? Secondly, has anyone seen any benefit to putting aftermarket spark plug wires on their car??? Thanks for the input.

Moderately difficult because you have to pull the intake.

The factory wires are very nice.

I spent $400 at the shop for cap, rotor, plugs, wires, tranny fluid, tranny filter, and check of everything else.

Yup,the factory ones are very nice,I used some Bosch wires, and they don't fit correctly. The length is critical since the wires are stuffed into a plastic raceway ontop of the cam covers, and there's no room for the extra wire.

How long do you guys think the stock wires will last? I want to put my torquemasters in at 50k mi on a '92. Do I need new wires, if so should I just replace them with stock wires?

Overclocker, on a '92, regardless of mileage, i'd change 'em, Lexus plug wires are excellent, but are still subject to dry rot/oxidation like any other plug wire, they're probably in great shape, but ya can't put a pricetag on peace of mind...

Mate sounds like you need to read the Penski File:

http://home.vicnet.net.au/~pgscott/p...enskiFile.html

One of the pages from Soarer DieHard:

http://www.users.bigpond.com/pgscott/

best regards

Default amazing

Peter Scott, you amaze me.

I have seen your posts here and at LSOC (UK) and just referred someone here to your BFI page today.

You are so dedicated to the marque, know so much, and communicate it so well.

Thank you, thank you

Thanks strongsail.

Don't the SC300's have 6 coils right on top of the plugs and no wires? And unlike the TT Soarer - you have that big inlet going across the top or the cam cover - looks like hard work - I'm sure other SC300 owners will help you out - I've never had the chance to have a good look at the 2JZ. - The 3.0 litre Soarer is pretty rare in Australia - all are V8's or Twin Turbos. I did drive one once here though. First impression was that I was driving a boat - so soft and swaying and rolling - but my Car is an Active Suspension model so all the models with airbags and regular shocks and coils seem that way in my "unbiased" opinion.
Second thing I noticed was the lack of low down torque - pretty gutless - but then keep your foot down and the power is great - very nice

Whoops - I just saw JohnnySc has the new SC430 - The Penski file is only for the earlier V8's, 1UZ-FE. The new 3UZ-FE is different.
