Alot of people don't care about the kit, but the rims are a different story...

What would you say about the Tenzo Shu's 18"? How about some of the Qt rims? There are some styles that people prefer, and they don't have high end styles of it... If there is, of course I was say get the better ones...

Im just curious, what do you think about that purple sc400 with the Blitz front bumper?

Oh yeah .. more than half the people in the import scenese have bodykits distributed by VIS . Who has styles of their own and affordable copies of the Japanese products. They can also get the real ones as well.. Alot have won 1st place at car shows.... Please don't assume VIS is a cheeseball company. You should know better than that. If you are a *real enthusiast ...

ew. that purple SC400? i for one do not like it, just like many on this board. i've seen his current SC400 in person, and it looks better IMO. thank god.

VIS is a reputable company that sells in mass quantites to everyone in the US. why? because they can sell them cheap, because of their cheap quality. I was at JT Autobody and Tony even said that, but hey, they're all in business to make money. I have no problem with that. One of the reasons why many of the winners have body kits from VIS is because they cannot afford the real deal. Also, If i remember correctly, VIS also sponsors a sh*tload of people. So, they sell their products through the winners, which in turn have cards or stickers on their cars. The "kids" who go to the shows go to VIS, which in turn they buy their product at a price for not what you paid, but for their normal retail price. Still making them money. It's a win win situation for everyone.

I'm not dissing VIS, they're a company that can get copies of anything and everything. They have the sources to do so. Shoot, if i had a honda/acura, I'd go to them too, because they're cheap. for my couple grand civic, who cares right? people with those kind of cars fix up their cars like they got all this money. it's a shame that more than half of them do insurance "jobs" or they use their financial aid money as means to get their cars the way they are. Then again, there are some spoiled kids out there that pay for everytihg. Full props to them, but not everyone gets their life handed to them.

tenzo's are just nasty. I can totally tell the real Shumachers from the fake. like like new fad of people getting the fake spoon rims from Rota. Cheap company, cheap rims, cheap price. Why not get the real deal Spoon? Yes, yes, they don't have money, but when they cruise around, they want everyone to THINK that they have the real deal. Right? If they like a particular style, then i'm pretty sure that cheap company copied that style of a reputable company. I'm sure companies like Rota, Tenzo, Axis, etc. copy their styles from the JDM market. People buy fake rims because they want it to look like the real deal, making them happy. Hey, that's fine by me, but but jeez, dont they feel stupid!

I'm happy for any mods that anyone does. Faking the funk is what gets me ticked off most. I give anyone props who work on their SC, don't get me wrong, but If you're cruising around with some tenzo's on any car, or a body kit wanting everyone to think it's real...then there's a problem.

I'd rather get props from a respectable older crowd then some low-life punk kid with size 40 pants and a shaved head walking around like something is stuck up his a$$. I could care less about what they think. It's them that gawk over our luxury cars, and sell their civic to be like us. They're they're the ones who buy HIGH mileage luxury cars and changing the taillights telling everyone that it's the newer model. Trying to pimp when they still have that "honda mentality" of trying to buy some 19's for only the price of some used C2's for about $1200. Or the SC with the god awful ugly aluminum wing. They are the ones who fake everything. They are the ones that you have to worry about when getting your emblems stolen, or your Racing Hart caps stolen. They're the ones that at night you leave your car parked at Irvine Spectrum and your car gets keyed because they're jealous. They are the ones that drive around buying body kits piece by piece, and in the end they don't have money to paint it, yet leave the kit on so the car is about 4 different colors.

Okay, sorry if i offended anyone, these are purely my opinions only. I'm really a nice guy, really. hehe. I'm not knocking on anyone, really.

I may have gone off subject, but oh well....that's me!!!

I think everyone here has valid points, but like i've said and I believe manaray said earlier; if you have to do too much saving then maybe you should have started small and worked your way up a little more carefully.

I know a guy that just bought a Ford Expedition that has no carpet, no center console, and an FM radio. Plus, the front seats are cloth and the rears are leather. BUT HEY, he's rolling an expedition. I had to contain my laughter when I saw it. He clearly couldn't afford it.

Now, i'm rolling on some Konig imagines which are direct knock-offs of the Work Rezax II. I didn't know it before I purchased them or i definitely would have gotten the Work wheels. I've been educated to alot of things since joining this forum.

However, to emeralds point, we shouldn't be dissing those that wanna put "fake" stuff on their cars. If they think they're pimpin' so be it. It's their dollars going down the drain.

I agree with your points. Before I joined this forum, I didn't know there was such thing as 'fake' stuff for your car. It's like when you buy your clothes from k-mart and try to make them look like they are brand name.. i guess

People are always suprised at how old my car is, they always wanna know if it's a '99 or something. Even people who do know the cars are sometimes confused. I met a guy named Jeff from Lexus of Serramonte (he just started, to be fair to the guy) and he didn't even realize my car was a '93, he wondered if it was a '98. Keeping the car in good shape impresses people just as much, if not more than modding it. I have tasteful mods on my car, such as the L-Tuned wheels which have a nice original equipment look, and my exhaust which is remniscent of the OEM mufflers but looks better. On the profile view I point the cell antenna straight back, since I don't use the phone, and it has this really nice look to it, kind of finishes the scene so to speak. Keeping the paint polished and everything else clean does wonders for the amount of respect your car recieves. Ricers don't get that when they put on an unpainted body kit. Their car looks ridiculous AND unclean, instead of just looking idiotic. Ghetto Fabulous indeed.

LoL I don't know about putting on a non painted bodykit.... Thats just ugly... However the shop couldnt match my paint completely so im a little off colored ... From what I believe, SSR shu's are the most 16" and 4x100 pattern.. correct me if im wrong here. Rims are the most important mod.... If you get knock offs... then its your decision... For me, I would pay the extra money... but if others don't I'm not going to rag on them because they didn't. ... .. .. ...

faking that they have the real deal when they dont is wrong... i agree... knowing you got an immitation and not faking it is all good with me... Knowing you got an immitation and dont care.. Is all good... Faking that you got a fake is just funny ...

Driving a Lexus and thinking you are the sh*t is pathetic... Looking down on Honda's/Acura's and other cars that aren't in the so called Luxury category just because you have one is wrong... Claiming that people fix up their cars just to Pimp is wrong....

My Opinion ...

Slick Lex Coupe - I congratulate you on your decisions! There is no excuse for buying knock-off stuff. If you can't afford the real thing, then you can't afford the real thing...

RH Evo's are licensed and not all their styles mimic RacingHarts. Either way, RacingHart has given them the OK AND they don't make direct copies. They make 1 piece version....BIG BIG difference from what Katana or Giovanna or G-Racing or (PRE)Tenzo or any of those other knock-off companies do....

VIS - Just because they're popular doesn't mean they're good. They're popular because they're cheap and because they ***** their sponsorships. Getting a VIS sponsorship is about as impressive as a $1 bill...And winning first place at some ricer import show isn't impressive either...you're competing against other ricers...so the winner is the #1 ricer......when guys with VINYL (yes folks, 99% of those redone interiors of these ricers are 100% VINYL...a real leather one would cost more than entire car) interior and gay neon underbody lights wins a category over a guy with a 100% Spoon JDM ride, that says something...

Bottom line...if you can't afford, you can't afford it. Don't fake it by buying knock off products....

Knock offs or authentic doesn't really matter that much. Be glad that there is even a choice. Even a couple of years ago, there was not such a thing for certain parts and/or wheels. Somethings are better authentic but, nowadays. It is hard to pinpoint what. Wheel knockoffs may not be constructed a little differently or be a little heavier but, saving mucho dinero on a car that was never built for performance in the first place. It may be the wiser choice to go with the replicas. As for the bodykits if, they are so high quality then, why aren't they made of polyurethane instead, of the same material as the cheaper knockoffs? Either way, more power to the people who do buy replicas or authentic but, no bashing on either end. I am glad for the most part for replicas drives, the price of the authentic stuff to go lower or come up with something better.

Besides, wasn't there a issue that Lexus' concept was a so-called, "copy" of the Mercedes concept somewhere? Now, isn't that calling the kettle black or what?

I'd just like to add to this topic. I'm actually one of the Honda guys changing over to Lexus this winter or this coming spring. I go to college(my parents are paying for me but if I fail any of my classes I have to pay for them and have to pay to retake it too) and I paid for my civic, insurance, and the mods I put into it. I don't have any huge wings, altezzas, or huge body kits. The reason why I'm moving up to lexus is that they are reliable luxury cars that can be modded quite easily(also they come in manual, since I was also looking at a acura CL) I know right away I won't be able to a lot of mods, but first I will be upgrading audio, till I get use to the car. Since I've never driven a RWD car before I want to get adjusted to the car before I start adding power to it. But once I start adding power and handling I will only be using quality products. Even if it does take me a little longer than normal its better than having a cheap product and then later on throwing it away or selling it to get the better product because the cheaper product broke or you just don't like it anymore.

There is a picture of my car, and I have red/clear tails on the back.
Tell me what you think.

lol, speaking of cheap a$$ rims.......mine are the worst. My dad put on 16in "Pacer" 5 spoke rims on the car. GOD i hate them. I regret buying other suspension products before i canged the rims, but when i recieved the car about 8 months ago he had JUST put brand new tires on....so i figured changing the rims out 1st and having to buy all new tires would be a waste of money. As soon as the tires wear down those small nasty things my car rolls around on are GONE!
