The steering issue could be as small as steering rack bushings... or broken ball joint in which you would need a new control arm. I had one SC that the steering scared the crap put of me - but $40 later on new bushings and the steering was perfect.

While I don't think you could flip it for much of a product, I don't think you will lose on it.

Good luck,
Jonny

Doenst sound like there TOO much to fix. It would be worth fixing it for a grand or 2. Once its fixed up you'd be able to sell it for a little more than what you put into it if its cleaned back up nice.

the turning issue is the steering rack. BE CAREFUL because it means that this car was probably in a front end accident. and the alignment is gone. the control arms don't control the turning. the are a part of the suspension. you need to see if also the tie rods ar busted or out of the socket.

in the best case scenario all u need are the steering rack bushings. but all and all it's an easy fix. junk yard and get all the steering rack form any sc300 or sc400, they are the same ( I believe)

I agree,

the money your going to have to dump into this thing could be in the thousands.

If this person didnt take care of it properly which seems to be the case it could be a mechanical nightmare.

Buy a decent car that was taken care of and it will be cheaper for you in the end.
im with these guys

K so far I have Replaced the rear rotors and pads. Than did a brake flush

Brake pads & Rotors = $80
Brake fluid = $10
Total = $90

I havent had a chance to replace the steering rack yet. been fixing other family cars.
So what I have spent so far:

Brake job = $90
Steering rack = $65
Blower Motor = $25
Total (so far) = $180

K so the E gas light has been on. I was going to take it to the gas station to give it a brake check after the replacement job. It wouldnt start. So i go to the gas station to get some gas in my "emergency?" tank. So come back and put the gas in the car. CAR STILL DOESNT START. I turn on the head lights to see if I killed the battery maybe and check if it dims when i try to start it. IT DOES DIM and so does everything else on the dash. So I try giving it a jump. STILL DOESNT START....WTF HAPPEN all a sudden the car wont start? All I hear is a clicking and the dash and headlights going dim

Starter? Alternator? Battery is so dead it just needs replacement? Help guys

K bought a Duralast Gold battery. Solved the problem. Car started instantly...I still am hearing noise from the brakes. So now i think i may need to replace the front rotors and pads also. The guy that owned the car last had some cheap slotted rotors. Which I hate. I have never seen those wear down evenly.

Also fig out how to check if its just the bushings that are bad. Correct its just the damn bushings. So the $65 dollar steering rack, a waste. But Im just gonna fig out how to take the bushings off it cause there in really good shape, and replace them with the bad ones on the car now

K so i get under the car, find out one of the bolts was just really loose. So tightened it down as much as possible. Was kinda hard to get to the bolt on the inside. BUT did get it tightened enough so that there is no dead steering anymore. SO that problem fixed.

Decided to take it for a drive for the first time on the highway. As soon as I get to 60mph the car started to shake like crazy. Also found out the front passenger strut might be going out. Also makes a weird "kreek" sound?

OH AND THE DAMN TIRES ARE BALD! about to show medal here in a lil bit!
