Yes, Millen carries the Veilside kits but wants $2900 for them :-( Like I said, I've found them for $2250, but that still seems like a lot when you see Veilside kits for other cars on eBay for less then $800!

I'd love to get a real Veilside kit, I just don't want to feel like I'm being ripped off.

Knock-off kits...for wannabes. Period.

And yes, you can tell. Ask anyone who has a Revo Win Racing knock-off kit. Ask anyone with any knock-off kit. Well, actually, you have to ask the body shop. Plus most knock-off kits are made very cheaply with thin fiberglass and usually do not hold up. Take a look at most Hondas with body kits...fake crap.

Most shops that can't get the good stuff sell fakes...

Well not everyone has enough $ for $2500 body kits!

I had a replica kit on my Prelude made of "cheap"( as manaray called it) for 4.5 years. I neer had a problem. Fitiment was off a little but my body shop fixed that for barely anything. Drove it on the streets of Chicago and never had a problem. the paint got scratched up but i never cracked the kit.
I like replicas.

Manaray quit acting like it's a crime to put a knockoff on an SC.

Post i agree w/ MANARAY!!

I TOTALLY agree w/ manaray. This is just my opinion, so please do not flame me.

the price you pay for the veilside kit is well worth it. I believe a few 3-4 members have the actual veilside kit and can vouch for their quality and fitment. yes, they go on ebay for mabye 800 or so, but for what car? you drive a lexus, and we must learn to live with the fact that anything, i mean ANYTHING that we purchase for our cars are automatically going to be hundreds, even thousands more. for example, kits for rice cars (hondas, etc.) go for about 400 for a full kit right? now take a copy of a REAL veilside kit. that still goes for about 1500+ just like the fake do-luck kit. Now, don't get me wrong, before i bought my kit, i had the option to get the fake kit, but when i saw all the work that had to go into it, (fitment, A LOT OF SANDING, and more importantly quality) i said screw it. I paid the extra 3 grand for the real thing. I never been happier. Fitment was excellent, quality is perfect! You will never see my kit "flapping" or "warping" on the highway going over 80+ MPH.

You must remember also the theory of supply and demand. How many people buy veilside kits for hondas? TOO Many. So what does veilside do? They MASS produce them because the demand is there. Now, you think about how many people want a veilside kit for their lexus? Not many right? So veilside does not mass produce these until they're ordered. When I ordered my kit, i had to wait because there was none in stock. also, take for example carbon fiber hoods for our cars. there's plenty of them out there for hondas for about 300 new. for our cars they're going to be around 700!

I'm not saying that everyone can afford to buy a real kit, but save up and do it right. I had to pay a GRIP for customs fees, taxes, and shipping from Japan. But hey, how many have the real kit? It took me a while to save up, but i know that i'm not fooling myself by trying to have good things for my car.

I hope that ONE day some retard pulls up in his fake kit thinking he's a pimp. I'll just look over and laugh. I mean, wouldn't you? You can tell the difference between fake kits and the real deal. If you have seen a real one in person, or If you have one yourself, then it's easy. The only ones who can't tell are those Rice burners out there who don't know jack about lexus. Everyone is in awe when i tell them the price of my kit. But hey, it was well worth it. It makes me mad that some f**k out there even decides to make fake kits. Like manaray said, "Most shops that can't get the good stuff sell fakes..." Everyone is so into taking their image to a higher standard. I think fixing up your car is a reflection on who you are.

It's weird how so many guys i talk to with hondas, or acuras who want to sell their car and get a luxury car to fix up. They're only 20 years old too! But they do not want to pay the extra money for 19 inch rims or the 3000 body kits. They want everyone to think that they're well off. They're so used to their $1200 rims, and their $400 body kits. That's just plain stupid! Don't fake the funk.

Ah, enough babbling for now...

Agreed Coming from a 4 time honda owner I knew what I was stepping up to. The first thing I did when I got my lexus was placed the order for my Z1s, I since have moved up to Z3s and I must tell you. Hondas, I spend 400 dollars max on a set of GSR wheels with tires. Now I find myself spending almost that on 1 275/30/19 T1S. But hey that's the price you have to pay. Now when it's body kit time I'm faced with a 2600 Auto Couture kit and probably another 1500 to have it painted installed, most honda guys pay 1500 for a full color change. If you want the best you have to pay the price, you didn't buy a car that was 40-50k new so that you could get out wearing imitation shoes and walmart clothes did you?

Wannabe what???

Awful lot of generalizations in that posting...

From my own experience - I bought an expensive "brand name" body kit. Looked great, fit well, cost me $400 to have the body shop put it on. When my car was hit by a little old lady (who shouldn't have even been allowed to walk, much less drive, but that's another story), my insurance company said "Wasn't on the car when you bought it, you eat the cost". So I went out and got a knockoff. After the body shop finished with it, it looked great, fit well, and cost me $500 to have installed (and I pocketed the $1200 difference!). And it still looks great and fits well 20 years later!!

I guess there's the kind of people who only want "the best". If you can afford it, more power to ya. Then there's the other type (like me), who think that if something costs twice as much (or whatever increment you want), it should be twice as good (or whatever increment you want). I'm sorry, but you'll NEVER convince me that a $20,000 Rolex is 1,000 times better at keeping time then a $20 timex

Same with body kits. If the brand name were 3 times better than a knockoff selling for 1/3 the price, I'd go for the "brand name". But the fact of the matter is they're NOT that much better and I'd rather use the savings for other more critical equipment (like a Haltech )

I really don't want to start a debate about this because in the end, it's all just personal opinion...

It's not a $20K Rolex vs. a $10 Timex...it's a $20K Rolex vs. a $10 FAKE Rolex.

You don't have to buy expensive kits...you can buy CHEAP ones. By beef is with KNOCK-OFFs. Meaning they are exact copies of the real ones.

I guess it's a matter of integrity and principle. I don't buy knock-offs because I'm a not cheezy kinda guy. Cheezy people who can't afford the real deal but want to LOOK like they can afford it buy knock-offs. There is no excuse. If you can't afford it, don't buy it. It's that simple.

If you think buying a knock-off is OK, then sell the Lexus and buy a Daewoo Leganza which is a GS knock-off basically.

As for the insurance, buy BETTER insurance. My ins. covers all my aftermarket mods.

20 years later? What body kit did you buy that still fit 20 years later? Lexus has only been out for 11 years...
