If your planning on a GTE or any serious boost, you will most likely swap the W58 for a R154/V160, so I'd look for an auto because they are cheaper.

Thats so true! I purchased my SC300 from an older gentleman that claimed it was "adult" driven. Had it for 2 months and come to find out I have some bad syncros I'd just grab a clean auto and r154 swap it. And where in NC are you located? I'm in statesville btw.

In NC, you wouldn't have to get an emissions inspection unless you got a 97+ SC. Swap away.
