Default Boost controllers...feedback and experiences

Im putting together a "need to do" list and one of the main things is a boost controller. Just trying to get a feel for people's preferences and experiences with theirs. Im thinking an old GReddy Profec E-01 so i can eventually hook it up to a E-manage blue later down the line. A lot of the guys i work with (MKIII guys) prefer the older HKS EVC IV. They also are dead set on stepper motor type controllers as opposed to solenoid type due to their reliability, but most of the electronic controllers these days are solenoid types. Any info behind this?

I like using the original Greddy Profec b on all my personal and customer cars. Simple and reliable.

I like the blitz sbc id and i run them my cars as well as my customers cars.. Also John Hennessy uses them on his twinturbo 1000HP vipers mainly because of the scramble boost feature on the blitz allows him to up the boost based on speed .

eh not too much a fan of manual boost controllers, especially when i want to keep my next set of twins for a while. Let me put it this way: im looking not so much to raise boost but CONTROL it, more specifically boost spikes. Im willing to pay the extra dough for an electronic piece.

I had a greddy bspec 2 which allows you to be able to raise the boost and tune it for boost spikes. I wasnt really good with tuning though lol

I had a Greddy profec B. It works great. Also I have a Apexi AVCR, it works great also. Both does it's job well. Apexi is just more flashy and more expensive. If your on a budget and want something reliable but not too cheaply made, go with Greddy Profec B.
