Mk3 or SC300?
Had 2 mk3s, 1 n/a the other 1 was a turbo, loved them both, they are still heavy pigs though. As far as swapping for 1j or 2j engines you will need to move firewall a couple of inches back, to fit the engine, it will be a pain in the butt to do the swap compared to sc, and will involve more $$ than you think or plan. I would use z30 chassis platform for drifting rather than ma70
Good luck

the only "massaging" that needs to be done with a jz swap is for 1jz/2jz with stock twins on a mk3, the twins hit the firewall and it needs some massaging.. but yeah, as far as the motor and tranny go.. perfect fit.
Search supraforums mkiii section! I think the motor mounts are located on different locations on both engines! The jz engines will need more clearance in the back to properly fit

I'm not getting offended, im just saying buying new motor mounts is way easier than moving the firewall.. Which no one does. You can buy the mounts here ~ http://www.bicperformance.com/products.htm
Sorry man no pun intended, let's say custom mounts, single turbo manifold, turbo, custom ds, a rear end that can handle the power to go with it, new radiator that would be custom, fan, list goes on... It will all eat your $$$$ like a few post above been said
i'd probably just stick with the stock 7m then, figure it'd be something i can beat on with a minimal amount of power. i'll worry about more power if/when i become good enough that i need it. thanks for the help everyone

And besides it's a moot point. You DO NOT need a ton of power to drift- just enough to get the wheels spinning and good response. A stock 7m-gte is fine for this, and a BPUed gte is probably the max you really need. Just gut the crap out of the interior and lighten the car up as much as possible. It will make it a really fun car and at the end of the day that's what the whole sport of drifting is about

Lol no need to search when I've witnessed and participated in
