Default A/C problem question

Since I have started driving my car lately I have not used the A/C due to nice breezy weather but some days it gets a lil warmer in Miami so I turned on my A/C and it blow hot are. I opened the hood and noticed the compressor was not spinning whats so ever. Can anybody who's knowledge with A/C tell me if I need freeon to make it work or can there be something wrong with the compressor. I dont wanna go to a A/C shop for them to do work and the end result tell me my compressor is bad and charge me. Thanks!

I did reseach but no info on this topic.

Do u have a 300 or 400? If you have a 400, the compressor will NOT kick on due to low of freon or being locked up. I would simply buy a $5.00 can of freon with dye, and inject it on the low side of the compressor. Its sits right on top of the compressor, and see if it kicks on. Makes sure its on high and MAX temp with the A/C button engaged. If this doesnt work try you may have a bad enough leak somewhere where the freon is just going out as fast as you put it in. Thats why I recommend using dye with freon to elimate all the guessing work. I also had to buy a New Nippendenso compressor to get mine to work properly. I also found out that the core in the dash was leaking also. What a pain to replace. Good luck and let us know!
