Default VSS wire - Sorting the facts

Ok, I've been researching this topic for a few hours now on various sites. Here's what I've been able to determine and just need some clarification since I don't want to have to deal with this twice.

Most prevalent solution seems to be tapping a blue/yellow wire at the ECU in connector E17-5 which is the small plug at the center of the ECU. Looking at the wiring diagram, that seems to be tied to the transmission. I'm auto... for now. When I swap in a V160, will that still function?

Another post that seems to carry more technical weight says to tap pin A2 on the ECU. I'm deducing that pin A2 is VSS #1 whereas the E17-5 I know is VSS#2. Where the hell is A2? I can't find a diagram with it anywhere. Would this A2 pin be a better long term solution?

Additionally, the E17-5 pin is from a 98, I have a 97. With the differences between VVti and odb2 and all that, would that pin even work for me? That's why I'm leaning more towards A2 whichever pin that may be.

Any light shed would be GREATLY appreciated. Yes, I'm installing a Nav unit (avic Z110bt).

Interestingly enough, Crutchfield says this for 97/98 SC3/400:

Vehicle Speed Sensor Pin #3 of 17-pin gray plug located in RH kickpanel VT
Reverse Light ( + ) Pin #11 of 23-pin orange plug located in RH kickpanel RD/BK
Parking Brake ( - ) At parking brake switch BK
Brake Light ( + ) At brake pedal switch GN/WT

sc250tt was nice enough to send me the 97+ electrical diagrams but I haven't had time to really sort through them yet. I personally wanted to tap into the VSS wire behind the cluster for the speedometer since it's the easiest to access and would require the shortest wire. If I remember correctly, it's an orange wire at pin 7 on connector IG2 for both the 97+ 1UZ/2JZ. My NAV works just fine without the VSS wire connected though so I haven't been overly motivated to get this done.

Thanks PotatoBBQ for the input, would you mind terribly forwarding them to me if you still have them handy?
