Where's the Trans fluid fill hole?Am I dumbazz?
I know it's probably a clueless question but,was doing a tune-up(plugs,wires,valve cover gasket,oil/filter/trans fluid) last night and drained the trans fluid but, can't find the fill hole? I've done searches, google etc. for an hour with no success??..I have a 93 5spd and I read these yrs. you can fill through the shifter but,I don't see any bolt or anything to fill through??....please tell me exactly where it is then call me a dumbazz"

Filling the W58 trans can be done in quite a few ways.
The actual hole is about mid-transmission, on the driver's side of the tranny. You will have to jack the car up to get to it.
The way I did mine was to get about 6' of some clear silicone hose (I got it at Lowe's in the plumbing section). Don't go too wild in the diameter, I used 1/2". Went 6' so I knew I'd have enough.
Take off enough of the shifter assembly to be able to stick the hose through a hole to the bottom of the car, feed that into your feed hole on the tranny. Get back in the car, open up your gear oil, and fit it to the end of the hose, turn upside down and let gravity do it's thing. If it's really warm out, gravity should be able to take care of it. If it's cold, you're going to have to squeeze to assist.
I believe the capacity of the W58 is 2.7 qts. I spilled a fair amount, so I just did my 3 whole bottles (1qt each). You're basically supposed to go until the oil comes back out of the fill hole, but if your car is not level (i.e.: on 2 jackstands), you will end up over-filling it.
Make double extra sure you have the car on good jackstands.
If you have a friend and are absolutely confident in your jackstands, one of you can make sure the hose doesn't fall out of the hole, and the other can put the fluid in. (This is how I did it).
Hope it helps!
