Default ECT Button and Trac Light Problems on '92 SC300

I've been having a few little things come up since I first purchased my car and figured I would ask to see if I could find a quick answer.

First, my ECT Power button does not work. I really don't know if I would spend much, if any, money to fix it, (r154 swap sometime this summer) but when I press the button, nothing changes. No light comes on/changed shift points, etc. If there is a fuse, etc to check quick, it would be nice, just to know that it works.

I briefly searched through and found mostly stuff for !S300's saying that for the best WOT performance the ECT button shouldn't be used anyway, but seeing how they have quite a bit more up top RPM range to play with, I didn't know if it would change much.

Next little thing...when I drive the car, no spinning tires, no hard turns, etc, even on the highway just cruising, the TRAC light comes on and stays on until I restart the car. Kind of a hit and miss thing, and when it does it, the traction control completely quits working. When the light pops up, I've tried hitting the Trac Control button then turn it back on, but it doesn't change anything.

Thanks for the help guys.

for the ect button, remove the shifter bezel and make sure the harness is actually connected to the button. sometimes people forget to connect it when taking the plate on and off.

for the trac control, you need to pull the trac control codes by jupering the appropriate terminals in the engine bay on the diagnostic port (easiest way to do it).
One of my SC's did the exact same thing and turns out it was the trac tps sensor was out of whack. I got the code for sub throttle position sensor out of spec. sometimes you can just clean it or adjust it instead of replacing it.
Pull the code first to determine if that the problem.

oh and the IS300 isnt so relevant to the ECT button on an SC.
the IS300 has a different transmission and their auto has 5 spds.

with the Clunky SC 4 spd, the ECT button is actually a usefull feature.
at the least you wont have to move your foot as much to get it to downshift (yes im lazy)

Another good thing to know, gonna look up the different shift points on here than. And I see from your signature that you're boosted...are you still auto? If so what turbo/boost are you running and how has it held up? I have a lot of plans like anyone else, but still looking into as many possibilities as I can, really don't want to go GM trans with no overdrive. R154 seems like the best bang/buck option out there.

I have owned 3 SC's myself, 2 auto, 1 manual.
The manual is the one I chose to keep and do all the mods to.
The auto is good for low boost before you have to tear into it. It can be build to stand more abuse and is actually a good option if you are into that over a gm trans.
Im using my stock 5spd with Act 6 puck clutch and extreme PP. holds up good but im only 9psi right now. When I crank up the boost I will most likely pick up an R154.
It really is the best bang for the buck. Don't waste time swapping the stock 5 spd if you plan on making big numbers.
