I'm building a custom remote mount twinturbo setup on my sc400.I have done a ton of the remote mount setups. I did a 300cSRT8 Hemi on methanol, corvette, SL500 jus to name a few.

SocalSC400,
Nice setup, but you'll run into a problem when raining. The water will go into your engine. How about cutting a hole in the trunk and put the air filter in there? To eliminate the water to go in the trunk, weld a 3" steel pipe through that hole and just connect the silicone hoses to it from both sides.

Another problem is the oil return line. I guess you already have the oil pump, but how far it's from the turbo is important.

I don't know what intake pipe size you run right after the turbo, or before the turbo, but a normal size will give you lag. You'll need a smaller pipe size to increase pressure and velocity.

I'll go to Church Tuning probably in a month or 2 to re-dyno my SC400, and looking to see your car there. Will you be ready? SC400 dyno day...

That rear mount turbo stuff always will have meggaaaa lag. If you're worried about room, just do a single up front with a Y from both heads. Those forward facing log manifolds gotta be the easiest thing for ANY welder to make/reproduce. You wouldn't have to worry about getting a pump for the oil drain and running 50 ft of IC piping and oil feeding etc... just my .02 though.

That video is meh. Dyno's and dyno charts have proven the lagginess of these types of setups.

Holy smoke thats a lot of pipe to fill with boost! Might have a touch of lag and boost loss but pretty cool.

The advantage of the remote mount turbo like this is it can be done within 2 days by a good muffler shop, while the front turbo will be on an average of 2 months and it'll require a more than an average fabricator to do it. Plus it'll be the hassle to worry about the heat, and importantly is to ditch the hydraulic fan. Everything has its price.

Depends on what year, but the 1UZ can take at least 9 psi with good tuning on all models.

yeah iv seen this, but on a corvette. its good for engine compartments that are small.. but seriously, have you seen the sc300 from the side? the engine compartment is as long as the cabin. plenty of room for a big *** turbo.

as for the remote mounts, they work. but i would NEVER daily drive this. race/track/weekend warrior ONLY. all the rocks and debris that will hit your expensive turbo would make me cringe.

Then 16 lbs of boost! But expect the auto tranny will break at around 11-12 lbs. A big tranny cooler may help somewhat, but it'll break eventually unless you go with a hi-performance rebuild kit + shift kit.
