Default Internal VS External Wastegate

Which is better and why?

Could an internal wastegate still work okay or is there a very good reason not to use one?

What is a good wastegate to buy? How much should I pay?

HKS makes very expensive ones, but very high quality.
Turbonetics wastegates are cheaper but are known not to hold up under the highest boost levels.

Integrated wastegates tend to leak boost at higher PSI, in general...

The majority of the big HP Supras use an HKS external wastegate.

What if you only want 8-12 psi? Will they work fine?

Buddy of mine just finished a T-88 install on his Supra... external HK$ wastegate that sounds absolutely insane.

Talk about instigating a race...!

Thanks guys.

Is it easy to set the internal wastegate settings or do you have to buy a new one set for that? I don't know much about this stuff but I'm learning.

its about the same in difficulty; in both instances you have to replace the spring to set the base psi level

you can always increase the boost with a boost controller however; its just how controllable the boost is... the higher the boost base setting is; the easier it is to control higher level boost
