Remove the top and bottom cover on the steering wheel. Make sure to turn the wheel to the left or right to see the missing bolt behind it. You will break the top part if you dont loosen it. Its on the right side. Once this is removed, look to the left on the column and remove the 3 ten mmm bolts. I believe they are 2 on bottom and one on top. You will then see the inside of the power slide. Theres a 10 mm bolt that holds the threaded washer on. See if its slid off and/or its stripped out. If it is, replace it or turn it over and use the other side of the plastic factory piece. When this happened to me, I placed a regular washer behind the plastic factory threaded one, and regreased it with new grease. Worked like a charm ever since. Hope this helps.

Lasltly, this will only work if you still hear the motor working. If not not check the fuses and relays to the steering column.

thanks for that. i already checked the fuses and they are fine but there is no sound whatsoever from the motor. i don't even care if the motor works as much as i just want to be able to lower the steering column manually and leave it there and worry about the motor later.

i'm gonna dabble with it tomorrow and see what happens.

has this happened to anyone else???

The tilt switch can be touchy about working, try and give it a little wiggle and flip it like a light switch a few times to see if it is making a bad contact or not.

so i went to replace the fuse for the dome light, and accidentally came to find out that it is also the same fuse for the telescoping steering column.
