Default ...need help setting timing...

will today i was planning to change my oil but when i open the hood i saw some bad oil leak, it was leaking all over the waterpump, i thought it was the valve cover but clean and wash all the oil off and took it for a test drive but still couldnt find were the oil leak was coming from so i decide to take off the distributor so i will have more room to look were it coming from and seem like it was leaking from my cam gears. i put the distributor back on not remembering how it came off and now the car dont start, i adjust it a little more now the car start but now idle like crap so i need some help from anyone that know how to set the timing....

also anyone having problem with the oil leak that i have please give me some info, thanks

Take the distributor back out... Turn the crank (manually) with a wrench/socket to TDC (top dead center). Take the distributor cap off and turn the rotor to point to #1 pin of the distributor cap. Put the distributor back in and make sure the rotor don't move and stay pointed in the #1 pin. Put the cap back on and start the car. You should be good to go from there. You can then use a timing light to make sure its right. You can adjust the timing by turning the distributor left/right.

Good luck.

Regarding the leak, since you already know they are coming from the cam gears. just replace the seals.
