I picked out the color just to try something new and different. I didn't want to go through all of the work and up getting back the same looking car.

Under the flourescent light of the spray booth, the paint color caught me off guard a little bit. It looked a lot more vibrant and brighter than the other Matador Red Lexus cars that I see on the streets. For a minute, I thought the paint vendor mixed the paint incorrectly but I guess that is how pearlescent color works. My only slight concern is people on the streets would immediately assume that the color isn't a factory color.

Other issue is cost of the job went up slightly since it was determined that the paint color is a 3 stage pearl. At first, just by looking at the color chips, we thought that Matador Red Mica was just a metallic color. I consulted with Makito from Seven Apple Works / Shine Auto and he thought the color was just a metallic as well based on looking at the color chip. From this I learned that not all pearl paint colors are a true 3 stage pearl paint job in which a separate pearl coat has to be applied on top of the basecoat. Chrysler's pearl colors are a good example of this.

As for door jambs and engine bay, I am not planning to get it sprayed it at the moment

Quite frankly, as many of you guys with pearl garnett probably already know, the old 3k3 pearl garnett exterior doesn't even match the door jambs really. The door jambs looks like a dull burgundy color. I might stop by later and ask how much it will cost more for door jambs and if we have enough paint for it.

I think its probably a close match for it. 3r1 is brighter and more vibrant

To know the truth about the materials, you can call the body shop supply stores and they'll tell you. So if the cost goes up 5% and the body shop increases the total price up to 10%, then they lie for half of it.

You seemed to have gone thru alot of trouble removing parts for the paint for come out great, shouldn't the windshield washers be removed as well ?

The handles should be done off the car as well, or you will end up with a red gasket.

Just a little update. Color is amazing in the sunlight

Car was suppose to be out but there are some remaining issues:

1. Driver side of my fogs were purchased off eBay and the screw or tabs were corroded/broken. I didn't think they were going to be an major issue. So my body man tried to fix it and it ended protruding half an inch.

So if he can't fix it, I will either have someone else attempt to fix it or buy another pair

2. Driver side beam is kind of off with the small gap towards the right (driver side). If the fogs can be swiveled around a little more to the right, it might look a bit better? Any tricks upon improving fitment of the highbeams?

Issues that were expected:

1. Exhaust is way too short. Needs to be modified.

2. Conservative wheel offset on a kitted SC is a

I think my wheels are 44 in the front and 40 in the rear

So I am going to have to find either a 10mm or a 15mm spacer for both the front and back
